Acronym for the California Highway Patrol and
the title of the police drama CHiPs/NBC/1977-83
starring Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada as police
officers Jonathan "Jon" Baker and Francis "Ponch"
Poncherello who cruised the Los Angeles highways
and byways on Kawasaki 1000's motorcycles
looking for motorists in need and chasing law
breakers.

Cable Network TNT broadcast a made-for-TV CHiPs
reunion movie with Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada
reprising their roles as officers Poncherello
and Baker (now riding supped-up BMW
motorcycles).

TRIVIA NOTE:
In 2009, Wilmer Valderrama (of THAT 70s SHOW)
portrays Officer Francis "Ponch" Poncherello in
the series remake.
