Francis - Talking mule featured in the
film Francis (1950) starring Donald O'Connor as an Army private who
befriended a cantankerous, old Army mule that miraculously started talking.

Francis (voice of Chill Wills) appeared in six sequels films, including
Francis Goes to the Races (1951); Francis Goes to West Point
(1952); Francis Covers the Big Town (1953); Francis Joins the WACS
(1954); Francis in the Navy (1955);
Francis in the Haunted House (1956).
The concept of a talking mule was the inspiration of MISTER ED/CBS/1961-66,
a series about a talking horse (voice of Allan "Rocky" Lane) who lived with
