Francis - Talking mule featured in the film Francis (1950) starring Donald O'Connor as an Army private who befriended a cantankerous, old Army mule that miraculously started talking. Francis (voice of Chill Wills) appeared in five sequels films including Francis in the Haunted House (1956). The concept of a talking mule was the inspiration of MISTER ED/CBS/1961-66, a series about a talking horse (voice of Allan "Rocky" Lane) who lived with architect Wilbur Post.
