Los Angeles Police Department's solution to the perfect cop was a blond-haired, blue-eyed android, programmed to act in any social or criminal setting. Officer John Haven (Michael Shannon), the android was designed by Dr. Tingley (Irene Tsu).

Haven was teamed with veteran cop Officer Joe Cleaver (Ernest Borgnine). They both reported to Captain Skaggs (Herbert Nelson).

Later in the series (which only ran 5 episodes), Officer Haven sacrificed its life to save his partner who had only recently discovered he was working with an android after an injury had exposed Future Cop's electronic circuitry. See also "Robocop"

The series was shortly revived in the two-hour TV movie Cops and Robin (1978) starring the original cast (Borgnine and Shannon)
