B1 & B2 were actually two people in giant banana suits, wearing
blue-and-white vertically striped pajamas who spoke with identical
Australian accented men's voices.

The program debuted in Australia in 1992 and become a hit with preschool
children and adults worldwide. The show was inspired by song written by
Carey Blyton in 1967.
The show's popularity even spilled over to a
primetime episode of NBC's medical drama ER when Dr. Greene (Anthony
Edwards) telephoned his young daughter in Milwaukee one morning saying, "I
knew you'd be up, BANANAS IN PYJAMAS is on."
