Land of the Lost Dinosaurs - On the
live-action Saturday morning series LAND OF THE LOST/NBC/1974-77
forest ranger Rick Marshall (Spencer Milligan), his daughter,
Holly (Kathy Coleman) and his son, Will (Wesley Eure) fell over a
waterfalls while exploring the Colorado River and entered into a
prehistoric setting filled with dinosaurs, and savage primitives.

Dopey and Holly
Two of the resident dinosaurs in the "Land of the Lost" were
dubbed "Grumpy" and "Alice," by the Marshall family. These two
quarreling dinosaurs were a constant threat to the Marshall's who
often sought the safety of the tree tops while they waited for
their unwelcome dinosaur neighbors to go away.

Grumpy the Tyranosaur and Alice the Allosaur face
off
Other dinosaurs seen on the show included: Dopey the baby
Brontosaur (befriended by Holly), Emily the Brontosaur, Junior the
baby Allosaur, Spot the Coelophysis, Spike the Triceratops, Lulu
the two headed monster, and Torchy the Dimetrodon.
Also living in this prehistoric landscapes were a slow-moving race
of reptilian creatures called
Sleestaks. One of these Sleestaks was named
Enik. He had fallen through a time warp portal to the prehistoric
landscape of "Land of the Lost" which he discovered was his own
future...a future where fellow Sleestaks have turned into
bow-and-arrow wielding primitives. With the realization that some
past event would reverse his people to savagery, he spent his time
trying to get back to his own time and warn his people of their
impending destiny. Occasionally, Enik, a peaceful Sleestak helped
the humans who shared his world. When the savage Sleestaks spoke
they hissed and slobbered.
This videotaped Saturday morning series was created by the
puppeteers Sid & Marty Krofft. It was revived on ABC in 1991 with
Timothy Bottoms as the single father of two children trapped in a
land of dinosaurs when an earthquake swallowed them while driving
in their Jeep Cherokee wagon.
Theme Song Lyrics
Marshall, Will and Holly
On a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known
High on the rapids It struck their tiny raft (insert screams here)
And plunged them down a thousand feet below
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost
(Second & Third Season Theme)
Will and Holly Marshall
As the earth beneath them trembled
Lost their father through the door of time
Uncle Jack went searching
And found those kids at last
Looking for a way to escape
From the Land of the Lost
