Batgirl - Behind the dark-rimmed glasses of Gotham
City librarian Barbara "Babs" Gordon (Yvonne Craig), lurked the karate-kicking
crime fighter who debuted during the 1967-68 season of the fantasy adventure
BATMAN/ABC/1966-68.

Batgirl, a.k.a. the daughter of Police Commissioner Gordon
(Neil Hamilton), raced about Gotham City on a souped up "Bat" motor cycle as she
battled the likes of the villainous Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman.
Her secret identity (known only to Alfred the Butler) was a constant source
of speculation to Batman and Robin who were dying to discover who this leather
clad crusader was in real-life.
The Batgirl character first appeared in the No.359 issue of DC Detective
Comics. A similar character called Batwoman debuted in DC comics No.233. Her
alter ego was Kathy Kane.
