Kodo & Podo - Two mischievous thieving ferrets featured on the fantasy adventure BEASTMASTER/SYN/1999-2002.

Kodo and Podo are the companions of Dar the Beastmaster (Daniel Goddard), a
muscular warrior youth who travels an ancient landscape helping others. The
Beastmaster carries Kodo and Podo in a small shoulder bag.
Dar communicates telepathically with the ferrets and when trouble strikes, he
releases the ferrets to climb walls, chew through ropes and leather handcuffs,
or steal small items.
The ferret characters of Kodo and Podo are based on the 1982 movie The
Beastmaster and its sequels Beastmaster II: Thourgh the Portal of Time
(1991) and Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus (1995) which are all
loosely based on the Andre Norton novel "The Beast Master".
Because ferrets can be unpredictable and temperamental, the Kodo and Podo
characters were portrayed by a number of ferrets.
TRIVIA NOTE: At the end of the original Beastmaster movie, one of the
two ferrets dies when he falls into a fire, but as the franchise continued in
the sequel movie, there were again two ferrets tagging along with Dar.
Explanation? Well, maybe, one of the ferrets was a female and she gave birth to
two new pups and then died. Thus the two new ferrets, who were once again called
Kodo and Podo.
Another celebrity ferret starred in the award-winning series of TV and radio
ads featuring the Budweiser Frogs and Louie and Frank the lizards created by the
San Francisco, Calif., ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
The Budweiser Ferret was selected as "The Ferret of the Century" in the
November/December 1999 issue of Modern Ferret magazine. See also
