Illya
Kuryakin -
Top
Russian agent for the United Network for Law and Enforcement
[a.k.a. UNCLE] on the spy adventure THE
MAN FROM UNCLE/NBC/1965-68. Illya is blond, single, introverted
but very adept at thwarting enemy agents from T.H.R.U.S.H. Illya
always wore a turtleneck sweater instead of a shirt and tie like
most of the spies at U.N.C.L.E. His partner is the suave,
ladie’s man, Napoleon Solo. They enter UNCLE headquarters through a
secret entrance in Del Floria's Tailor Shop. Their standard
issued firearm is a Walther P-38. They both reported to Mr.
Alexander Waverly, the head of U.N.C.L.E. TRIVIA NOTE: A poster
of Illya in his turtleneck holding his U.N.C.L.E. issued firearm
became a best selling poster in the 1960s long before the Farah
Fawcett [Charlie’s Angels] poster craze began a decade later. After Napoleon left U.N.C.L.E.
he became a celebrated fashion designer [as revealed on the 1983
TV movie reunion The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The
Fifteen Years Later Affair. David McCallum currently plays
a coroner on the police drama NCIS.
