S.H.A.D.O. - Acronym for the Supreme Headquarters, Alien Defence Organisation, a secret underground installation located beneath a film studio in London, England on the British syndicated sci-fi series U.F.O./SYN/1972. Posing as a movie producer, Commander Edward Straker (Ed Bishop) supervised S.H.A.D.O. a multi-nation project designed to defend the Earth from invading aliens from outer space. Their main underground installation was in constant contact with SID (Space Intruder Detector) which orbited above the Earth monitoring the vastness of outer space for incoming spacecraft, as well as with S.H.A.D.O.'s Moon Base Control, situated on the lunar surface. Other in Straker's staff were George Sewell as Col. Alec Freman, second-in-command; Peter Corden as Capt. Peter Karlin, pilot of the Seagull X-ray craft; Gabrielle Drake as Lt. Gay Ellis, in charge of Moon Base Control; Michael Billington as Col. Paul Foster and Grant Taylor as General Henderson.
