Rear Admiral Calavicci was involved in a time travel project know
as Quantum Leap. His holographic projection visited
Dr. Sam Beckett who traveled in time to various places and
inhabited the bodies of men, women and animals. Al was the project
observer who communicated back to
Ziggy, the Quantum Leap
computer. Al used a hand held device that accessed needed
data.
During his role as project observer, Rear
Admiral Al Calavicci (Dean Stockwell) often puffed on Honduran
handmade Zino brand cigars that cost $185 a box. Stockwell smoked
about one box per episode.
