Set in the year 2086, the program followed the adventures of four futuristic law enforcement officers who protect the galaxy aided by advanced space weapons and robotic horses.

The ranger's advanced technology came from two outer space aliens who visited Earth and in gratitude for helping their cause, gave the planet plans for a hyperdrive that enable humanity to travel among the stars.

With the expansion into space, came the need for personnel to regulate the colonies of new pioneers in space. Thus was born the BETA, (The Bureau of Extra Terrestrial Affaires.
