WAGON TRAIN/NBC/ABC/1957-65 - The story of the people who traveled west by wagon train from St. Joseph, Missouri to California in the days following the Civil War. Regulars included Ward Bond as Wagonmaster Major Seth Adams; John McIntire as Wagonmaster Christopher Hale (who replaced Major Seth Adams); Terry Wilson as assistant Wagonmaster Bill Hawks; Robert Horton as frontier scout Flint McCullough; Scott Miller as frontier scout Duke Shannon; Robert Fuller as frontier scout Cooper Smith; and Frank McGrath as trial cook, Charlie Wooster (60 Minutes) 

WALLY WESTERNS/SYN/1960 - Reedited western films in cliffhanger installments hosted by Wally Western and his cartoon assistant. The series featured the films of Ken Maynard, Hoot Gibson, Tex Ritter and Bob Steele. (30 Minutes)           

WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE/CBS/1958-61 - Steve McQueen starred as Josh Randall, a frontier bounty hunter working in the Old West of the late 19th century. Josh affectionately called his sawed-off carbine "Mare's Laig." Later in the series, Randall acquired a sidekick named Jason Nichols (Wright King). WESTERN HOUR/SYN/1963 - Western anthology hosted by Chuck Connors featuring repeat episodes from THE RIFLEMAN and DICK POWELL'S ZANE GREY THEATRE. (60 Minutes)

WESTERN STAR THEATRE/SYN/1963 - Western anthology hosted by Rory Calhoun consisting of episodes previously aired on DEATH VALLEY DAYS. (30 Minutes) 

THE WESTERNER/NBC/1960 - Set in the 1890s, Brian Keith starred as Dave Blassingame, a cowboy roaming the Mexican border who helped people in distress. (30 Minutes) 

THE WESTERNERS/SYN/1965 - Anthology series hosted by Keenan Wynn consisting of western episodes originally aired on BLACK SADDLE, DICK POWELL'S ZANE GREY THEATRE, JOHNNY RINGO and THE LAW OF THE PLAINSMAN. (30 Minutes) 

WHEN THE WEST WAS FUN: A WESTERN REUNION/1979 - This program was the first reunion of all the popular western cowboys seen on TV and the Movies. It aired in June of 1979. Set in a western saloon, the special reunited some of the best remembered TV cowboys including The Lone Ranger (Clayton Moore), Bart Maverick (Jack Kelly), The Rifleman (Chuck Connors), The Virginian (James Drury), Buffalo Bill, Jr. (Dick Jones), The Lawman (John Russell), The Range Rider (Jock Mahoney), and Neville Brand, Slim Pickens, Bill Williams, Doug McClure among others. The Buick sponsored special was hosted by Glenn Ford who dedicated the 60-minute program to John Wayne saying "This one's for you, Duke." John Wayne was hospitalized at the time.

WHIPLASH/SYN/1960-61 - This is the story of Christopher Cobb (Peter Graves), an American who helped establish the first stagecoach line across the rugged Australian Continent during the 1850s. (30 Minutes)  Whiplash - Broken Wheel Ranch Website

WHISPERING SMITH/NBC/1961 - The exploits of real-life western criminologist, Detective Tom "Whispering" Smith (Audie Murphy), who practiced modern investigation techniques with the 1870s Denver Police Department. (30 Minutes) 

WICHITA TOWN/NBC/1959-60 - Joel McCrea starred as Marshal Mike Dunbar who maintained law and order in the 1870s town of Wichita with the help of his deputy Ben Matheson (Jody McCrea). (30 Minutes)           

THE WIDE COUNTRY/NBC/1962-63 - Contemporary western adventure about the Guthrie brothers, Mitch (Earl Holliman) and Andy (Andrew Prine) who traveled the rodeo circuit in competition for the Gold Buckle rodeo trophy. (60 Minutes) 

WILD BILL/1995 -  Jeff Bridges starred in this western movie retelling of the legendary frontier lawman James "Wild Bill" Butler Hickok (1837-1876) as he battled Indians, faced down gunman in the streets of Hays and Abilene Kansas and eventually met his fate at the hands of Jack McCall who shot Hickok in the back while he was playing cards. 

THE WILD WEST/SYN/1993 - Epic 10-hour miniseries narrated by Jack Lemmon that examined the facts and myths about the people and events of the Old West (cowboys, gunfighters, transcontinental railroad, gold rush, etc.)     

THE WILD WEST C.O.W. BOYS OF MOO MESA/ABC/1992-93  - This Saturday morning animated fantasy told the tale about cattle who were turned into cowboys after a comet from outer space crash-landed on a plateau in the Old West. Characters included Marshal Moo Montana, the Cowlorado Kid and Dakota Dude. Together they followed the Code of the West (C.O.W.) and battled such outlaws as The Wild West Bullies. THE WILD WILD WEST/CBS/1965-70 - Federal undercover agents James T. West (Robert Conrad) and his partner Artemus Gordon (Ross Martin) battled those who threatened America's security during the post Civil War days of President Grant's administration. (60 Minutes) 

WILDSIDE/ABC/1985 - Set in the Old West in Wildside County, California, this western adventure featured four upstanding citizens who formed the "Wildside Chamber of Commerce" a secret vigilante law-enforcement group founded (and answerable to the Governor) to clean up the Northern California frontier territory filled with local gangs and wandering renegades. Members of the group were Brodie Hollister (William Smith), a rancher known as "The Fastest Gun In the West" with 29 notches on his gun; Bannister Sparks (Howard E. Rollins. Jr.), a bon vivant black explosives expert and card sharp; Vargas De La Cosa (John DiAquino); a gunsmith equally handy with a knife; and Prometheus Jones (Terry Funk), a huge veterinarian skilled with the lariat. 

WRANGLER/NBC/1960 - Jason Evers starred as Pitcairn the Wrangler, a drifter and gunfighter who worked odd jobs throughout the Old West and helped those in need. (30 Minutes)
