YANCY DERRINGER/CBS/1958-59
- The exploits of Yancy Derringer, ex-Confederate soldier turned gambler and special agent for the city of New Orleans. X Brands costarred as his mute Indian friend Pahoo-Ka-Ta-Wah. (30 Minutes) 

THE YELLOW ROSE/NBC/1983-84  - This prime time serial was set on the 200,000 acre west Texas ranch ("The Yellow Rose") founded by Wade Champion, now deceased. The program followed the exploits of his offsprings and their struggles with money, lust, and power. Family members included Cybill Shepherd as Colleen Champion, Wade's young widow; David Soul and Edward Albert as Wade's sons Roy and Quisto; Tom Schanley as Roy's son, Whit; Michelle Bennett as L.C. Champion, Colleen's daughter; and Sam Elliot as Chance Mackenzie, the newly hired ranch hand. Noah Berry, Jr., Kerrie Keane, and Ken Curtis played the ranch hands Luther, Caryn and Hoyt. The ranch was formerly owned by Jeb Hollister (Chuck Connors) who named the ranch after his sister Rose Hollister (played by Jane Russell). (60 Minutes)

YOSEMITE SAM CARTOONS - A pint-sized cowboy with an oversized hat created by Fritz Freleng who debuted in the Warner Brothers cartoon Hare Trigger (1945). Yosemite Sam had bushy eyebrows, bulbous nose, and a long droopy red mustache. Wielding a set of six-guns, the hot-tempered little gunslinger would say "Ya better say yer prayers, ya flea-bitten varmint! Ah'm a gonna blow ya to smithereenies!" Frustrated with Bugs Bunny, Sam would say "Ah hates rabbits". Both Bugs and Sam also appeared in High Diving Hare (1949), Bunker Hill Bunny (1950) among other cartoons. 

YOUNG DAN'L BOONE/CBS/1977 - Rick Moses starred as Kentucky frontiersman Daniel Boone when he was a young man in 1755. Also featured were John Joseph Thomas as Peter Dawes, a 12-year-old English boy; Ji-Tu Cumbuka as Hawk, a runaway slave; Eloy Phil Casados as Tsiskwa, an Indian friend; and Devon Ericson as Rebecca Bryan, Daniel's love interest. (60 Minutes) 

YOUNG MAVERICK/CBS/1979-80 - Continuing saga of the Maverick's, a family of gamblers and con artists. This version featured Charles Frank as cousin Ben Maverick who wandered the wilderness territory of Idaho during the 1880s. (60 Minutes) 

THE YOUNG PIONEERS/ABC/1978 - The story of a frontier newlywed couple Molly (Linda Purl) and David (Roger Kern) Beaton as they struggled to establish a homestead amidst the Dakota Territory of the 1870s. (60 Minutes) 

THE YOUNG RIDERS/ABC/1989-92 - Set in the year 1860, this was the story of the Pony Express that carried mail overland 2000 miles from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. Anthony Zerbe appeared as Teaspoon Hunter who operated one of the 190 Pony Express way stations. His crew of pony riders included Ty Miller as The Kid, a soft-spoken fast gun; Stephen Baldwin as William "Billy" Cody later to become Buffalo Bill Cody; Josh Brolin as Jimmy Hickok, the future Wild Bill Hickok; Travis Fine as Ike McSwain, a mute; Gregg Rainwater as Little Buck Cross, a half-bred; and Yvonne Suhor as Lou McCloud, a girl disguised as a male.
