 Sonny
Cuckoo - "I'm Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!, Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!" was the
uncontrollable scream of Sonny the Cuckoo Bird on the animated General Mills
cereal commercials begun in the 1960s. Sonny, who wore a vertically-stripped
turtleneck sweater, co-starred with a Gramps, an elderly bird character who
tormented Sonny with the sight of Cocoa Puff cereal. When the bearded Gramps was
fazed out, Sonny interacted with live child actors. The Sonny the Cuckoo Bird
campaign was created by the Dance, Fitzgerald and Sample Agency.
