XANATOS, David
(Gargoyles)
c/o Penthouse Suite
New York City, NY (Manhattan)
David is a millionaire. He transported the remains of an ancient Scottish castle
adorned with stone gargoyles to his New York City penthouse. Xanatos soon
discovered, however, that the stone gargoyles were survivors of a race of
gargoyles who [because of a curse] turned to stone by day and came to life by
night. Lead by Goliath, the Gargoyles included Brooklyn, Broadway, Hudson,
Lexington, Bronx and Demona. Befriended by a female police detective named
Angela Goliath summarized his plight: "One thousand years ago, superstition and
the sword ruled. It was an time of darkness, it was a world of fear, it was the
age of Gargoyles. Stone by day, warriors by night, we were betrayed by the
humans we had sworn to protect, frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand
years. Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken and we live again! We are
defenders of the night, we are Gargoyles!" The spell ruling the Gargoyle's
existence reads: "Fearsome creature who would stay/Unchanged by the light of
day/Remain you thus throughout the night/And be thou flesh by dawn's fair
light."
XAVIER’S SCHOOL FOR GIFTED YOUNGSTERS
(The X-Men)
c/o Professor Charles Xavier
1407 Graymalkin Lane
Salem Center
West Chester County, New York
The Xavier school is both an educational center as well as a refuge for children
and teenagers who possess mutant powers. With the guidance of Charles Xavier, a
mutant himself who can read minds, the students at this special school learn to
control their powers (which often surface at puberty) and become responsible
citizens, despite the fact that many in society fear their mutant powers. A
group of these “exceptional” mutants are known as the “X-Men.” They consist of
The Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Rouge, Storm and Wolverine. At a
moment’s notice, the X-Men are ready to battle evil, especially the arch-villain
Magneto and his army of nasty mutants. Xavier’s school motto is “Hope for
Humanity".
