  Advertising Mascots - People

Click for Chevron Web SiteHy Finn - Standard Oil of California (CHEVRON) used "Hy Finn," a big-nosed motorist with a wide smile, straw hat and bowtie to advertise their products on television in the 1950s. Paul Ford provided Hy's disinterested voice. Additional voices supplied by Westbrook Van Voorhis. The campaign was created by Batten, Barton, Durstine and Osborn Advertising Agency in 1958. A sample of Hy Finn's wit and wisdom is revealed on a piece of Chevron station promotional literature where Hy remarks "Funny, where ever there's a Chevron sign, they've built a Chevron station."
