 Paris Hilton - High society party girl/model- turned-actress who starred
in a steamy "That's Hot" Spicy BBQ burger campaign for Carl's Jrs/Hardees
franchise in the spring of 2005. Created by Mendelsohn Zien Advertising LLC, the
spot showed Paris seductively washing a black Bentley automobile with wild,
soapy abandon. Of course, being scantily clad in a sexy and
revealing
swimsuit didn't hurt either.
In between sudsing the car and herself, Paris pulled out a hefty Carl's Jr.
hamburger which she sensuously devoured on camera for an intended target
audience of adolescent male (and assorted lesbian) consumers. The ad ends with
Hilton's signature line: “That’s hot.”
Some critics of the spot like Melissa Caldwell, research director for
the Parents Television Council thought the ad was tawdry saying “This commercial
is basically soft-core porn. It’s inappropriate for
television.”
Eat that Nasty Burger!
Hilton's ad is similar to a 30-second 2003 Monday Night Football TV commercial
for Sirius Satellite Radio starring Pamela
Anderson who wore a wet tank-top as she scrubbed down a young man's car with her curvaceous body (and polished the
chrome with her bottom).
Immediately following the debut of the campaign, "Carl's Jr." grew an astounding
802 percent between the weeks ending May 21 and May 28, according to Hitwise, a
competitive intelligence service.
TRIVIA NOTE: Hilton Hotel heiress, Paris Hilton gained celebrity status after
appearing in a sex tape filmed in 2003 by her lover Rick Soloman (Shannen
Doherty's ex-husband). The tape showed intimate scenes of Paris "doing" her
boyfriend and saying phrases like "You trying to choke me?" as she pleasured her
beau. Paris' private moments soon began appearing on the Internet and being sold
by nefarious folks who sought to profit from her embarrassing sexcapade.
Saddened at the exploitation of Paris, the Hilton family issued this public
relations release:
"The Hilton family is greatly saddened at how low human beings will stoop to
exploit their daughter, Paris, who is sweet-natured, for their own
self-promotion as well as profit motives."
A few years earlier, a similar situation happened to Pamela Anderson, the former
star BAYWATCH when her homemade sex tapes starring herself and then husband
Tommy Lee were stolen from their home and quickly found their way onto the
Internet.
Despite, her claims at being publicity shy, Paris has never been shy with
showing off her body. Before her sex tape scandals broke, Paris Hilton modeling
career for designers Marc Bouwer, Tommy Hilfiger and Catherine Malandrino had
produced a number of revealing and sexy photographs that are just as revealing
and enticing as her Carl's Jr. commercial.

Paris Hilton's acting career prior to the Carl's Jr spot included roles in the
films House of Wax (2005), Raising Helen (2004), Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat
(2003), Wonderland (2003), short film QIK2JDG.(2002) - as a strung-out
supermodel; and Zoolander (2001).Her TV credits included: a cameo appearance on SNL's weekend update with Jimmy
Fallon (2003); Fox reality series "The
Simple Life" with Nicole Richie where
these high society girls live on a farm and then travel across the country in a
Winnebago (2003/2004); guest role as a pampered fiancée of a high roller on the
NBC drama "Las Vegas" (2004).
