"Q" - Omnipotent being on the sci-fi series STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION/SYN/1987-94. "Q" (John de Lancie) was a Machiavellian creature who delighted in testing the resolve and determination of the humans of the starship Enterprise-D. Not familiar with the human race, "Q" would set up situations of stress and decision and see how they would perform, even to the point of taking a few human lives in the bargain. On one occasion, "Q" was stripped of his powers (by his own kind) and forced to adapt to life as a mortal. Corbin Bernsen (of  L.A. LAW fame) made a brief appearance as "Q2." "Q" was later restored to the "Q Continuum" when they sensed he actually showed signs of compassion by aiding another.
