Network Logos -
The CBS logo, the
"Eye," was designed by William Golden and
introduced to television on September 10, 1951.
The logo was judged in 1976 to be the most
recognized trademark in the world. The logo for
the NBC Television Network was a Peacock with 11
plumes in its multi-colored tail. It was
designed to showcase regular color broadcasts
introduced to television in the late 1950s and
seen on such shows as BONANZA/NBC/1959-73, the
first western to be televised in color. The
Peacock logo was retired on December 31, 1975,
replaced by a strange triangular design
resembling the letter "N". It now has six plumes
with the colors (left to right) yellow, orange,
red, purple, blue, and green. See also -
