Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty in the FlintmobileThe Flintmobile - Prehistoric car owned by stone quarry worker Fred Flintstone on the animated sitcom THE FLINTSTONES/ABC/1960-66. The Flintmobile was carved out of a tree trunk and rolled on log wheels that were propelled (and stopped) by feet power. At the ending of each episode, the Flintmobile flipped on its side when a waitress at a drive-in restaurant placed an oversized rack of dinosaur ribs on the side of the car. For the full-length motion picture The Flintstones (1994) starring John Goodman, custom car designer George Barris created a facsimile of Fred Flintstone's Flintmobile. The car and chassis was built from square and rectangular steel tubing, wood reinforcement, fiberglass parts and the mechanical systems of a golf cart which allowed the actors to move the car without much effort. Its interior sported saber-toothed tiger skin upholstery, and a rock dashboard protected by a hide-covered canopy. Flintmobile Car at Stars Cars
