Bears - Troupe of bears garbed in medieval clothing on the Saturday
morning cartoon THE GUMMI BEARS/NBC/1985-89. The Gummi Bears began life as a
chewy, gooey bear-shaped candy popular with children. Merchandisers were quick
to turn these sweet tasting bears into TV characters. The Gummie Bears live in
Gummi Glen the kingdom of Dunwyn where they protect their human friends (King
Gregor, his daughter, Princess Calla and Cavin the page) from the sinister plans
of the evil Duke Igthorn of Drekmore.
The Gummi Bears include Sunni, Tummi,
Gruffi, Grandpa Zummi (the keeper of "The Great Book of Gummi"), Grammi Gummi (who
prepares a special Gummiberry juice that enables the Gummi's to bounce) and
Cubbi., the youngest of the clan. The series expanded to DISNEY'S GUMMI
BEARS/WINNIE THE POOH HOUR/ABC/1989-90.
