Yogi Bear- A brown bear with pork pie hat and tie first seen on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon THE HUCKLEBERRY HOUND SHOW in 1958. Yogi (voice of Daws Butler) was advertised to be "smarter that the average bear." Give him a chance and "Hey, Hey Hey", he'd raid every pic-a-nic basket in Jellystone National Park. His pilfering ways, however, were kept in check by Chief Ranger John Smith and Boo-Boo Bear, Yogi's faithful sidekick (voice of Don Messick) who tried to keep Yogi on the straight and narrow by reminding him of the park's posted rules. Even so, Yogi's appetite for food forced him to beg or steal morsels from the humans who visited the park. Cindy "I do declare!" Bear is Yogi's girlfriend (voice of Julie Bennett).

Yogi has been featured on a variety of animated programs including YOGI BEAR/SYN/1961; YOGI'S GANG/ABC/1973-75; YOGI'S SPACE RACE/NBC/1978-79 and theatrical releases Hey, There, It's Yogi Bear (1964), Yogi's Great Escape (1986) and Yogi and the Invasion of the Space Bears (1988). TV specials included Yogi's First Christmas (1980), and Yogi Bear's All-Star Comedy Caper (1982).

In 1997, the syndicated daytime talk show THE ROSIE O'DONNELL SHOW had a cute Kid's Are Punny joke about Yogi. It went "Why didn't they make a second Yogi Bear? Well, they tried but they made a Boo-Boo." See also - BOOKS: "Kids are Punny"
