Crackers -
The plucky corporate crime fighting chicken seen on the news satire
program TV NATION/NBC/FOX/1994-95 and later on THE AWFUL TRUTH/BRAVO/1999.
Crackers was actually a man in a yellow chicken suit who wore a blue mask,
cape, and gloves. He confronted corporate executives and politicians in
the pursuit of justice. During one such adventure, Crackers visits
Disneyland to advise Mickey Mouse about Disney's alleged unfair labor
practices. Other times, Crackers tried to enter the Detroit Free Press
building during the great newspaper strike or to go after the Buckeye Egg
Farm for polluting the area around the factory near Columbus, Ohio ("I’ve
come here to Ohio to listen to the problems you have with corporate
hooligans").
One source called TV Nation's Crackers "as a sort of obscene
visual aid to help the filmmaker make fun of the excesses of capitalism."
Crackers was created by Michael Moore, a documentary film maker, now
famous for his investigative documentaries Roger and Me (1989),
Bowling for Columbine (2002) and Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004).
