Scrooge
McDuck - Scottish relative (voice of Alan Young or Bill Thompson) of
the quick-tempered Donald Duck who first appeared in 4-Color Comics
No. 178 (1947) and later debuted in Uncle Scrooge Comics No. 1
(1951).
Scrooge McDuck wears a top hat, red coat, spectacles
and spats and sometimes used a walking cane. He was noted for being
the "richest duck in the world" and for owning a huge money vault
(aka "The Money Bin") built by Oso Safe Company.
Inside the vault he
stores his money in large swimming pool depressions and calculates
the contents of each by checking its depth. Coveting his vast wealth
were the Beagle Boys, a group of criminals who live in the town of Duckburg where his money is stored.
The Uncle Scrooge character
later appeared on the animated TV cartoon, Scrooge McDuck and Money
(1967) and as the star of the feature film short Mickey's Christmas
Carol (1983).
In the 1990s, DUCKTALES, a syndicated animated
adventure produced by Walt Disney studios featured tales of Scrooge McDuck and his grand-nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie inspired by the
storylines from Disney licensed comic books drawn by artist Carl
Barks from 1942-67.
