  Ravens

Charlie the Munsters' RavenCharlie the Cuckoo Clock bird - Wisecracking raven with a quip for any situation featured on the sitcom THE MUNSTERS/CBS/1964-66 Raven lives in the  cuckoo clock in the Munsters' living room. When he popped out he cried, "Nevermore, nevermore!" a refrain inspired by a mysterious raven in the classic Edgar Allen Poe poem The Raven. Both Mel Blanc (and later Bob Hastings) supplied the raven's voice which resembled the wisecracking parrot used on THE JACK BENNY SHOW (voiced by Mel Blanc for many years). The parrot often cried  "Raaaahh! Benny's a cheapskate. Benny's a cheapskate! Raaahh!"

"Twinkling colored lights are nice and so are plastic
Santas and reindeers and nativity scenes, but let
me tell you something. There's nothing like the sight
of a beautiful, black-as-pitch raven to get you in the
 Christmas spirit."

-- Chris Stevens, Northern Exposure
