Blood on the Badge - Title of the novel written by black NYPD Detective Ron Harris (Ron Glass) on the sitcom BARNEY MILLER/ABC/1975-82. Working at the 12th Precinct in Greenwich Village, Detective Harris juggled both professions of police officer and novelist. Constantly making notes while on duty, he finally produced a novel entitled Blood on the Badge, a.k.a. "B.O.B." (initially titled "Precinct Diary") which told a lurid tale about the Men in Blue. The book was published by Wainwright Publishers. He continued struggling to write a second novel often suffering from writer's block. On the last episode of the series Harris left the police force to continue his writing career.
