Hubba Bubba Gum Fighter - In a
series of spoofs of old Western films like High Noon (1952), the Hubba-Bubba
Gum Fighter used Hubba-Bubba Bubble Gum instead of a six-shooter to beat the bad
guys in this Wrigley Chewing Gum Company commercial created by the BBD & O ad
agency in 1979.
Rugged actor Don Collier would face down his enemies in a
"Blow-up" instead of a "Shoot-out." Of course, the bad guys were always chewing
another brand of chewing gum, which just couldn't make a bigger bubble than the
Gum Fighter's.
At confrontations end, the outlaw's bubbles usually burst first
and covered their faces in sticky goo. As the defeated outlaws ran into the
sunset, the cheering town folks surrounded the Gum Fighter who calmly remarked
"Big Bubbles, No Trouble."
