Jerry once reconsidered a
relationship with a girlfriend with fungicide in her bathroom; and another
time, he couldn't bring himself to kiss his girlfriend, Jenna after
discovering her toothbrush had fallen into the toilet.
Phobia's run in the Seinfeld family. Jerry's father, Morty can't stand
the sound of Velcro tearing. Once, Jerry's gave his father a new wallet with $400 inside, but his
father immediately threw it away because it was made with Velcro.
When not doing his standup act Jerry hangs around with
friends George Costanza [a loser], Elaine Benes [his ex-girlfriend] and
Cosmo Kramer [his mooching “hipster dufus” neighbor across the hall in
apartment 5B.] They meet and eat at Monk’s Restaurant, a local eatery.
Jerry and George attended Edward R. Murrow Junior High School, J.F.K. High
and Queens College and are both members of the New York Health Club.
"The Swiss have an
interesting army. Five hundred years without a
war. Pretty impressive. Also pretty lucky for them. Ever see that
little Swiss Army knife they have to fight with? Not much of a
weapon there. Corkscrews. Bottle openers. 'Come on, buddy, let's
go. You get past me, the guy in back of me, he's got a spoon.
Back off. I've got the toe clippers right here.' "
--Jerry Seinfeld - Opening Monologue
Jerry gets around town in a 1992 Saab with a 2.3 liter
non-turbocharged V6 engine [license: JVN 728]. His nemesis, postal carrier
Newman, lives in apartment 5-E. Jerry’s accountant is Barry Profit [He
also did Elaine Benes taxes and later lost all of Jerry’s investment
monies].
Jerry’s parents, Helen and Morty lived in a Florida
retirement community [Del Boca Vista]. His Uncle Leo lives in Manhattan
and gets slighted when Jerry doesn‘t say “Hello” to him. Leo likes to
shoplift books from Brentanos.
In 1998 Jerry and his pals decided to fly on vacation
to Paris. Unfortunately, their plane had to land for repairs in Latham,
Massachusetts. During the layover Jerry and company witness a carjacking
but instead of calling the police or helping the victim Jerry, Elaine,
George and Cosmo Kramer stood around mocking the man as he was being beaten. As
a result of their callous actions, Jerry and friends were sentenced to one
year in jail for failing to assist the man [per a local Good Samaritan
law].
