Tek - Futuristic drug on the sci-fi series TEKWAR/USA/1995.
Tek was a highly addictive, illegal mind-control drug that interfaced with
virtual reality computer programming and sent its users into a variety of
fantasy worlds...worlds which potentially could cause death.
To keep mankind from getting hooked on Tek, Walter Bascam (William Shatner),
the mysterious and powerful head of Cosmos Security Agency enlisted the aid of
former cop Jake Cardigan (Greg Evigan) to battle the evil Teklords and those
corrupt government officials bent on spreading the deadly drug worldwide in the
year 2045.
William Shatner, the creator of TEKWAR and the novels which inspired the
series revealed in an interview (Starlog No. 199 February 1994 p.73) "The
origin of Tek came about from the fact that I frequently use television to go to
sleep. By extension, Tek became a drug able to fulfill your grandest fantasies."
