So You Think You Can DanceSo You Think You Can Dance - Grueling 12-week dance competition first aired on the FOX Network during the summer of 2005. Created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, this lively reality dance program puts a number of talented yet undiscovered dancers through the ringer to find America's No. 1 dancer. The program comes from 19 Entertainment, Ltd. and Dick Clark Productions. It is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Allen Shapiro.

SYTYCD offers a spectrum of dance styles from contemporary hip-hop to traditional ballroom so that the contestants can showcase their dancing skills in both solo or partnered routines. Imagine Olympic ice skating without the ice and you'll get an idea of how much these dancers have trained to become one of the best.

The Top four finalist for the summer of 2005 were Ashle Dawson, Jamile McGee, Melody Macayanga and Nick Lazzarini (the winner of the competition).

The SYTYCD competition returned for a second season in May 2006 as dancers gyrated to such musical tunes as “Question Mark” by Wade Robeson, “Buttons” by the Pussycat Dolls, “Hey Mama” by The Black Eyed Peasm and the Cars soundtrack of “Route 66.”

Ultimately, the top four dancers (Benji Schwimmer, Travis Wall, Heidi Groskreutz and Donyelle Jones) competed on the final performance show on Wednesday, August 9th, 2006. Viewers had two hours after the telecast to cast their votes for the America's No. 1 dancer.

On the August 16th series finale, the winner danced away with a $100,000 cash prize, a new car and a one-year contract with Celine Dion’s Las Vegas show, “A New Day.”

Those eliminated (voted off) in 2006 were Natalie Fotopoulas, Ivan Loumaev, Allison Holker, Alexsandra Woyra, Jason Williams, Joy Spears, Ashley Nino, Jaymz Tualleve, Jessica Fernandez, Musa Cooper, Ben Susak, Ryan Rankine, Stanislav Savich, Demitry Chaplin, and Martha Nichols.

Starting September 12, 2006, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE took its popular competition on the road.
