Bendii Syndrome - Debilitating disease
that affects the Vulcan race on the sci-fi adventure STAR TREK: THE
NEXT GENERATION/SYN/1987-94.
Bendii Syndrome, (a rare form of senile
dementia) wreaks havoc on Vulcans over 200 years of age by breaking
down their hold on logic which leads to irrational swings in emotion
(something that Vulcans strive to suppress).

On episodes No. 71 "Sarek"
Ambassador Sarek (Mark Lenard) the father of Mr. Spock (Leonard
Nimoy) was diagnosed with this mental malady. Sarek's disease made
him cry and project intense emotions that caused crew members of the
Enterprise to begin arguing/fighting among themselves.
A Vulcan
mind-meld with Captain Jean Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) helped
stabilize Sarek's mind long enough to finish his diplomatic
negotiations.
On episodes No.108/109 "Unification" Sarek dies on
Vulcan in 2368 from degenerative complications from Bendii Syndrome.
