Huckleberry
Hound - Blue-skinned animated hound dog with black ears, black
nose, and droopy eye lids created by Hanna-Barbera productions in 1958 for
the first all-animated television series THE HUCKLEBERRY HOUND SHOW/SYN/1958-1962.Huckleberry Hound's
distinctive characteristics were his lethargic, unflappable attitude in
the midst of confusion or danger and his friendly southern drawl (voice of
Daws Butler).
His favorite song was Persey Montrose's "Clementine" ("Oh, My
Darling...Oh My Darling Clementine...") which he often sang (off-key) to
himself as he wandered through his many misadventures.
The cartoon character won an Emmy Award in 1960 for outstanding
achievement in the field of children's programming. Huckleberry Hound was
patterned after MGM's Droopey the Dog.
The 30-minute Huckleberry Hound cartoon series also introduced
such characters as Pixie and Dixie, a couple of mice; Jinks the cat; Hokey
the wolf; and that "smarter than the average bear," Yogi Bear.

The biggest show in town is Huckleberry Hound
For all you guys and gals.
The biggest clown in town is Huckleberry Hound
With all his cartoon pals.
Its Huckleberry fun, its for everyone
So come on, gather round
Get yourself all set, turn on your TV set
For Huckleberry Hound.
That oh, so merry, Chuckleberry, Huckleberry Hound.
