Mad Dog Comic BookMad Dog - Comic book veterinarian superhero with the adrenal glands of a Doberman pinscher on the sitcom BOB/CBS/1992-93. When a mild mannered veterinarian Dr. Jeffrey Austin is transformed when a bizarre scientific experiment gone awry, he is endowed with the powers of super hearing, super strength, super speed and super smell in the guise of superhero Mad Dog. Mad Dog wore blue tights with an orange "M" on his chest. He was assisted by two humans, Penny, his girlfriend and Buddy, his loyal sidekick. Mad Dog’s arch-enemy is the Evil Mazza. The Mad Dog character was created by cartoonist Bob McKay (Bob Newhart) but canceled after the twelfth issue in the 1950s. It was later revived for Ace Comics. The cover of the classic Mad Dog comic [12 issues in all] read: “Mad-Dog, Mankind’s Best Friend. It cost $0.12. The comic was resurrected by Chuck terHorst, the Chairman of the American-Canadian Trans-Continental Communications Company who owned Ace Comics.
