Brownie - The never seen but mentioned dog of Mary Jo Shively (Annie Potts), a divorced mother who worked for an Atlanta, Georgia design firm on the situation comedy DESIGNING WOMEN/CBS/1986-93. On episode No. 154 "Oh Dog, Poor Dog" Mary Jo struggles with the idea of killing her aging dog Brownie to put him out his misery. After much thought, Mary Jo decides to put her dog to sleep. Consequently, Mary Jo grieves for three days over her lose. On the humorous side, Mary Jo's older eccentric friend Bernice (Alice Ghostley) overheard her and Julia Sugarbaker (Dixie Carter) talking about killing Brownie. Thinking they were discussing her, Bernice frantically barricades herself inside the storeroom.
