Alan - The grey-skinned pug of Spence
Olchin (Patton Oswalt), a subway toll collector on the situation
comedy KING OF QUEENS/CBS/1998-2007.
Spence thinks his dog is adorable with his big eyes and cute
little smile, but his girlfriend, Michigan-born Denise (Rachel
Dratch) is afraid of animals.
When the dog jumped on the sofa while Spence was kissing Denise,
she freaked out and ran screaming from his apartment.
She later told Spence "the dog goes or I go." Just as
Spence was about to get rid of the dog, Alan chases away a
beady-eyed pigeon that flies into Spence's apartment and frightens
Denise.
Seeing the dog as her protector, Denise quickly warms up to
the cuddly little canine. Alan is regularly walked by Holly (Nicole Sullivan),
a professional dog-walker.
TRIVIA NOTE: Another Pug dog appeared on the situation comedy
FRIENDS/NBC/1994-2004. It was given to folksinger/masseusé Phoebe
Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) as a life-lesson in how difficult it is caring
for a child. Phoebe didn't have the dog very long.
