Princess Riva was the Myposian equivalent of the Sandman. Each night when the residents of the Mediterranean island of Mypos closed their eyes, Princess Riva would hold all the people safely in her arms until morning.

We learn about this somnambulant spirit when Myposian immigrant, Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot) experienced insomnia while living in Chicago with his American cousin, Larry Appleton (Mark Linn-Baker).
