Squiddly Diddly -
Six-legged pinkish-purple octopus with a bubble-shaped head that
debuted on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon production THE ATOM
ANT/SECRET SQUIRREL SHOW/NBC/1965-66.

Squiddly Rocks and Rolls
Squiddly (voice of Paul Frees) wore a white sailor's hat and
walked on four legs (two of his legs protruded from the sleeves
of a pull over shirt that he wore). Besides being multi-legged,
Squiddly had multi-talents and hoped to break into show
business. On the title page of the episode "Show Biz Squid,"
Squiddly is seen playing the saxophone, guitar and bongos.
Squiddly lived and performed in a aquatic theme park called
Bubbleland where he often just sat in a water tank. He once
lamented "Oh boy what a boring life! All I do is sit here while
visitors gawk at me. What I need is a nice long vacation. I want
to see something else besides visitors."
But Squiddly's dreams of seeking adventure in the outside world
were thwarted by the park's owner Chief Winchley (voice of John
Stephenson) who always found Squiddly and returned him to
Bubbleland.

The Squiddly cartoons (26 six-minute episodes) also aired on the
thirty-minute spin-off series THE SECRET SQUIRREL
SHOW/NBC/1967and then on the hour live-action/animated show THE
BANANA SPLITS AND FRIENDS/NBC/1968-70.
