Dig 'Em wore a
large-brim baseball cap, green jacket, light
blue shoes and an orange turtleneck sweater with
the words "Dig 'Em" on it.
In 1983, Sugar Smacks was renamed Honey Smacks
(now with honey sweetened puffs of wheat) with
Dig 'Em still on board as their mascot.
Dig 'Em was replaced by Wally the Bear in 1986,
but reinstated by popular demand in 1987.
TRIVIA NOTE:
On the satirical animated series FAMILY GUY/FOX/1999-2002,
a statue of Dig 'Em was dedicated to the brave Quahog,
Rhode Island soldiers who
perished in the "recent Gulf Conflict." As the
presenter (voice of Adam West) proclaimed: "I can
think of no greater tribute to their memories
than this solid gold statue of Dig'Em the Sugar Smacks
frog."
