Dynasty Mansion - The opulent mansion located at
173 Essex Drive in Denver, Colorado on the prime time soap opera
DYNASTY/ABC/1981-89.

Owned by oil millionaire Blake Carrington (John Forsythe), the 48-room
mansion was the home of Blake's new wife, Krystle Jennings Carrington (Linda
Evans) who was always at odds with Blake's former wife, Alexis Carrington Colby
(Joan Collins).

Blake Carrington and the women in his life
Other family members to frequent the house included Fallon (Pamela Sue
Martin/Emma Samms), Blake's spoiled daughter; Steven (Al Corley/Jack Coleman),
his homosexual son; and Adam Carrington, a.k.a. "Michael Torrence" (Gordon
Thomson), a long-lost son who surfaced in the third season.
The Carrington mansion was actually the Filoli Estate located thirty miles south
of San Francisco off Highway 280 at 86 Canada Road in Woodside, California. It
was built in 1916 by William Bower Bourn, Jr., with the profits from his Empire
Mine in Grass Valley, and is now operated as a museum by the National Trust for
Historic Preservation.
The name "Filoli" was derived from the first two letters of the three words
derived from the motto "To FIGHT for a just cause, to LOVE your fellow man, and
to LIVE a good life."
Supplemental exterior shots for the Carrington Mansion were actually shot at the
Arden Villa, a 20,000 square-foot mansion located at 1145 Arden Road in
Pasadena, California.
This mansion was used for the garden and pool shots (including the famous
fight in the pool between Joan Collins and Linda Evans who were actually on
their knees because the lily pond was only two-feet deep) and also served as the
exterior of the Knight Rider Foundation FLAG, seen on the NBC adventure series
KNIGHT RIDER.
In 2005, this 17 room Palladian villa with nine fireplaces, an elevator, a
tennis court and a reflecting pool went on the market for $14.5 million.
The mansion used as the Colby's Los Angeles Belvedere estate is located at
1060 Brooklawn Drive in Bel Air, California.
