M*A*S*H 4077th - Korean War based hospital (a tent city) featured on the military sitcom M*A*S*H/CBS/1972-83. The 4077th is a Mobile Army Surgical Unit that treated wounded soldiers near the front lines. Medical staff on duty includes Captain Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce (Alan Alda); Captain John “Trapper John” McIntyre (Wayne Rogers); Head Nurse Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan (Loretta Swit); company clerk Corporal Walter “Radar” O’Reilly (Gary Burghoff); Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger who wore dresses so that he could be declared crazy and sent home [Klinger replaced “Radar“ when he went stateside]; Chaplain Father John Francis Patrick  “Dago Red” Mulcahy (William Christopher); Captain B.J. Hunnicut (Mike Farrell) [who replaced “Trapper John“]; Major Charles Emerson Winchester III (David Ogden Stiers); and Colonel Sherman T. Potter (Harry Morgan) [who replaced Henry Blake after he died in a plane crash]. Note: The exterior shots for the series were filmed at Malibu Canyon Creek State Park (Fox Ranch) that was donated by Twentieth Century-Fox to the State of California. A portion of the park burned down in a brush fire during the filming of the series finale and so the script writers incorporated the disaster into the final script “Goodbye, Farewell and Amen.”
