Essex House - Turn-of-the-century hotel seen on the opening and closing sequences of the supernatural anthology GHOST STORY/NBC/1972-73. Hosted by Winston Essex (Sebastian Cabot), each episode introduced the viewing audience to the splendors of his hotel facilities (also called The Mansfield House) and to a variety of tales of suspense and horror (witchcraft, ghosts and vampires). In reality, the beautiful Victorian hotel was the Hotel del Coronado located at 1500 Orange Avenue, Coronado, CA 92118 (in the San Diego area). Nicknamed "The Del," USA Today calls the resort hotel "one of the top ten resorts in the world."
