Homer the Spider - Black Widow spider featured on the bizarre sitcom THE ADDAMS FAMILY/ABC/1964-66. Homer was the personal pet of Wednesday Thursday Addams (Lisa Loring), the somber little daughter of Gomez (John Astin) and Morticia (Carolyn Jones) Addams who lived in a bizarre gothic mansion. Once Wednesday wrote a poem about her spider. It read:

My spider's quite a busy roamer
Which is why I called her Homer.
She may not jump or twist or bend
But a spider is a girl's best friend

On episode No. 10 "Wednesday Leaves Home" (11-20-64) Wednesday packs up her spider and runs away.  TRIVIA NOTE: When Morticia's was a child, she had two pet vultures named Hubert and Henery. Pugsley Addams has an Octopus and the Addams family pet is a lion named Kitty Kat.

Morticia: Hello Wednesday, darling. Come and see the new pet (a horse) we have for you. Do you like him?
Wednesday: He's very nice but I'd rather have a spider.
Morticia: A spider or a horse, darling, what's the difference?
Wednesday: But I'd rather have a spider!
Gomez: Alright, a spider it is. A beautiful black widow spider! Well, back goes Rover.
(Pats horse)
Sorry old man.
