Sonny & CherSonny & Cher Wedding Rings - Early in their career "when Sonny & Cher  were just Cher and Sonny," the two aspiring musical artists bought a couple of engraved $10 stainless steel rings and exchanged them in a private 1960s wedding ceremony. Cher's ring read "Sonny"; Sonny's read "Cher." Soon after the wedding, however, Cher lost her ring. Luckily back in 1977, a construction crew was remodeling a home in Bel Air (the former residence of Sonny & Cher) when Gary Robertson, a worker on the site, looked into a dumpster of trash and saw a piece of metal that turned out to be Cher's missing ring. Not realizing the importance of the ring (after all it was just a simple band of steel with a name on it), he put it away and forgot all about it. Then, one night in November, 1998 while watching CBS's LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, Cher, a guest on the show, mentioned her two rings and Gary & his wife quickly realized they had Cher's lost wedding ring. Sometime later, Gary's wife contacted Cher at KIIS-AM in Los Angeles, when she heard her voice on the radio. Dialing up the program, she informed Cher "I have your sterling silver ring. I'd love to be able to get that ring back to you." On January 3, 1999 the Robertson's met privately at the L.A. Airport just as Cher was leaving for a London appearance. Finally after 26 years, Cher had her wedding ring back. The ring took on special significance since Sonny Bono had died in a skiing accident on January 5, 1998. The Sonny & Cher rings were soon reunited after Cher reportedly got Sonny's wedding ring back from Sonny's widow Congressman Mary Bono.

Sonny and Cher will always be fondly remembered for their 1970s CBS musical variety series THE SONNY & CHER SHOW and their hit song "I Got You, Babe."
