Kapusta Kid - Outer space bear
puppet featured on KOVACS UNLIMITED/CBS/1952-54. The "Kapusta Kid
in Outer Space" was a sci-fi satire of children's
outer-space shows. It featured O'Brian, a Sicilian monkey;
Albumen, a spacesuit-clad horse, and Celeste, a fair lady crew
member. "Kapusta" is Polish/Russian for Cabbage.
The Kapusta Kid puppets now rest in the Hollywood Entertainment
Museum at 7021 Hollywood Bouldevard (West of Grauman's Chinese
Theater). Radio personality Larry Yurdin did satirical news sets at KMET
(1971-73) under the name "Kapusta Kid." He now lives in Seattle
and designs computer networks.
