M.A.L.P. - Mobile
Analytic Laboratory Probe (M.A.L.P.) is used on the science fiction series
STARGATE: SG1/SHO/SCI/1997-2007.
Its primary function is to reconnoiter new worlds discovered by the
Stargate project. A laboratory on wheels, M.A.L.P. can analyze air and
solid samples, as well as transmit visual images back through the Stargate
to inform SG-1 Command if it is safe to send an expeditionary force
through the Stargate iris.
Once a team arrives, M.A.L.P.'s
videoconferencing equipment can be used by team member s to stay in
contact with their home base on Earth.
Also, in the Stargate arsenal of vehicles is F.R.E.D. (Field Remote
Expeditionary Device). It is a six-wheeled unit that can carry cargo
through the Stargate and across the terrain of alien worlds.
