Future Cop - Android police officer on the sci-fi series FUTURE COP/ABC/1977. Los  Angeles Police Department's solution to the perfect cop was a blond-haired, blue-eyed android, programmed to act in any social or criminal setting. Officer John Haven (Michael Shannon), the android was designed by Dr. Ting (Irene Tsu). Later in the series the android sacrificed its life to save his partner Officer Joe Cleaver (Ernest  Borgnine) who had only recently discovered he was working with an android after an injury had exposed Future Cop's electronic circuitry.

TRIVIA NOTE: In the 1960s the animated crime series 8TH MAN/SYN/1965 told the story of a scientist named Professor Genius, who built a super-android called Tobor the 8th Man that contained the memories and  likeness of a police detective killed in the line of duty. The series was based on the 1963 comic strip created by Japanese artist Jiro Kuwata and scriptwriter Kazumasa Hirai. See also - "Robocop"
