The Omni - Time
traveling device used on the science fiction
adventure VOYAGERS/NBC/1982-83.

The Omni is a gold, hand-held device similar in
size to a pocket watch. It was used by travelers
knows as Voyagers when they patrolled the
corridors of time.
"We travel through time to help history along,
give it a push where it was needed. When the
Omni is red it means history is wrong. Our job
is to get everything back on track." -- Phineas
Bogg
A normally functioning Omni glowed red when
history was out of sync; and green if history
was taking its proper course.
One day, an Omni belonging to a Voyager called
Phineas Bogg (Jon-Erik Hexum) malfunctioned,
causing him to crash-land into the bedroom of
Jeffrey Jones (Meeno Peluce), a young boy living
in New York City.

When Jeffrey's dog ate the Omni's instruction
manual, Phineas (more brawn that brain)
recruited Jeffrey, an historical whiz kid, to
aid him on his assignments until he could get a
new instruction manual.
As a result of the Omni's malfunction, their
voyages forward into time could go no further
than 1982, thus limiting the scope of their
adventures to the past.
The renegade Voyager named Drake (Stephen Laska)
carried a model 31650 Open-Time Calibrated Omni.
All Voyager adventures were monitored by a
computer complex called the History Surveillance
Unit. The Omni bore the inscription "Time Waits
for No Man."
TRIVIA NOTE: The movie Time Bandits
(1981) followed the trail of six dwarves who
whisk away an English schoolboy on series of
adventures through time and space. See also
