Richard Boone starred as an aging gunfighter
who took the job of deputy sheriff in the
turn-of-the-century town of New Prospect,
Oklahoma to help Sheriff Oliver B. Stamp
(Richard Lenz), a honorable but inexperienced,
young lawman.
Hec Ramsey helped solved his criminal cases with the use of
modern criminology techniques, for example, using the emerging art
of fingerprinting to match a criminal to a crime.

The series was a rotating program
on the NBC SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE, including
Columbo, McCloud, and McMillan and
Wife.
